Nelson Moya – Gainesville Police Department
Nelson Moya will join the Gainesville Police Department as the new assistant police chief. Currently, Moya heads the probation department and justice intervention initiatives as deputy county executive in Suffolk County in Long Island.
In New York, he also created the first Threat Assessment Management Team in the area, minimizing acts of targeted violence. Prior to his time serving Suffolk County, he worked as a police officer with the City of Palm Bay, Florida for 31 years.
George Blaine Roberson – City of Newberry
The Newberry City Commission has issued a proclamation to make October 17, 2023, Blaine Roberson Day. The city has also made plans to name the newest field in Jimmy Durden Park after Roberson.
George Blaine Roberson worked for the Newberry Recreation Department from 2012–2018 but even after that, he was always looking for ways to improve the community. He passed away in May at the age of 34, but his unwavering love for the community left a lasting impression on those who crossed his path.
Morgan Wagner – Aspen Square Management
Aspen Square Management has promoted Morgan Wager to social media and content manager for Aspen’s national portfolio. Morgan started with Aspen Square in June 2015 as a leasing agent, later becoming assistant manager and then eventually being promoted to property manager. Wager then joined Aspen’s Training Committee where she taught others how to use social media to promote properties and increase engagement.
After moving to Gainesville, Wager was able to improve community reviews and increase the student population that engaged with Aspen Square through her understanding of social media, marketing and design.
Jennifer Sokoloff – L3 Campus
Jennifer Sokoloff has recently been named area manager with L3 Campus. L3 Campus provides student housing through their properties which include all The Row locations and The Wynwood.
As area manager, Sokoloff will use her skills in sales, marketing, advertising, leadership and management. Previously, she worked for Asset Living where she worked her way up to regional supervisor.
Kristen Bryant – City of Gainesville
The City Commission has selected Kristen Bryant as the interim city clerk. Bryant has been with the clerk’s office since March 2019. She worked as an executive assistant and later transitioned into the role of the office’s agenda coordinator.
Bryant received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Florida, and a Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law.
