What Moves You? Gainesville Health & Fitness has something for everyone to get in shape.
It has been said the biggest obstacle in exercising is just getting to the gym.
There are countless reasons for avoiding or missing opportunities to work out, and Gainesville Health & Fitness understands that. From a vast array of facilities and equipment to amenities like free babysitting and guided classes, Greater Gainesville’s largest community fitness complex lets members redefine exercise on their terms.
“Exercising can be boring. It’s tedious, you sweat, and most people don’t want to do it,” said Debbie Lee, Senior Director of Marketing for Gainesville Health & Fitness (GHF). “Our job is to help change the mindset about exercise, and the benefits it gives you long term. We have the equipment, we have the workouts, but we also have that intangible that allows your mental health to flourish.”
Helping members embrace a healthy lifestyle in new, inventive ways is the reason Lee has worked with GHF since 1996. Beyond the state-of-the-art exercise equipment, world-class wellness facilities and customizable workout programming is an ethos of confidence and community. A fitness counselor is assigned to each member when they join to help them assess their exercise goals and strategize which of GHF’s many amenities can help them succeed.
“We have two groups of people –– the people who know what they’re doing, and just want to join and work out with their friends. Then, on the other side of things, there are those who really don’t know what they’re doing, and that creates anxiety –– so much anxiety for some people that they never even walk in the door,” said Lee. “We set up our company like everyone is a beginner to make them feel comfortable.”
Spread across GHF’s 24/7 Main Center, GHF Women and the family friendly GHF Tioga Center are countless combinations of exercises designed to establish or grow guests’ fitness experience.
The Line is a supervised training area staffed with instructors to help beginners learn the fundamentals of strength-training. Aquatic Yoga, Barre and Zumba classes in one of GHF’s three pools offer a refreshing take on recreation for all ages. The newly created Echo Outdoor Fitness Pavilion, the largest of its kind in GG, is a multipurpose training destination that will challenge even the most experienced athlete.
What truly sets Gainesville Health and Fitness apart, however, is its guided programs. Offering more than 700 group classes every month from cardio to Pilates, yoga and meditation, each in a variety of skill levels, the workout possibilities are endless, and endlessly customizable.
Some guided fitness classes and programs are even open to the public, enabling prospective members to experience all that Gainesville Health and Fitness has to offer before signing up –– and even the most experienced gymgoer will find something unexpected here.
“There’s not just one thing that catches people by surprise‚ it’s the enormity of all the things,” said Lee. “That’s really what our brand promises, is that there is so much here that you can’t believe it. We continue reinventing ourselves so people remain interested in fitness.”
