CONTINENTAL IMPORTS IS A LONG-ESTABLISHED BUSINESS IN THE COMMUNITY. HOW HAVE YOU AND YOUR TEAM TRIED TO CONTINUE THE LEGACY OF THE COMPANY?
My father’s American dream was established in 1978 when he opened Continental Imports. Specializing in Mercedes and BMW repairs, our word of mouth advertising has ranked our facility as one of the top 10 shops in the Southeast. Close to half of our team has watched me grow into a leadership position and continue my father’s legacy. My business partners, Darren Jones (husband) and Hannelore Bodendorf (my mother), and I continue to treat our customer’s vehicles as if they were our own. We have developed a hard working, dedicated and trustworthy team who continue my father’s American dream and legacy.
HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN A WORK/LIFE BALANCE?
I think it’s important to do everything in moderation. Work is given 100% dedication, but my balance of life includes: spending quality time with my family and friends, staying active and healthy, being involved in local charities and enjoying life.
WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BIGGEST ISSUE FOR WOMEN IN THE WORKPLACE?
I don’t believe it is as hard for women as it has been in the past. Women have come a long way in building a name for themselves and proving to be effective leaders in today’s workplace. However, it still can be challenging for women in male dominated industries, like the one I am in.
WHAT IS THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER BEEN GIVEN?
“You will always regret what you didn’t do, rather than what you did.”
