Silver Airways inaugural nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale to be celebrated Monday, Aug. 21Local dignitaries, representatives from Silver Airways and passengers to join in the celebration

WHAT: Silver Airways Nonstop Service to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) begins Mon. Aug. 21. We are expecting 80-100 guests including arriving (FLL-GNV) and departing (GNV-FLL) passengers. A special themed cake, “GNV to FLL”, macarons and punch will be served, and Silver swag will be given away.
WHERE: Gainesville Regional Airport, 3880 NE 39th Ave., Suite A, Gainesville, FL 32609. Park in any spot you can find and we will validate your parking. (See parking lot graphic below.)
WHEN: Monday, Aug. 21, 2023. The celebration will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. Please arrive in plenty of time to park. Media wishing to take pictures of arriving aircraft will be escorted onto the ramp in time for theincoming flight’s anticipated 7:50 pm arrival. (We will monitor the flight’s progress from FLL and advise you in advance if there are any changes to arrival time.) The arriving flight from FLL is Silver Airways #140, scheduled to depart FLL 6:20 p.m. arriving GNV 7:50 p.m.) Sunset is at 8:03 p.m. The departing flight, Silver Airways #141, leaves GNV at 8:30 p.m. The celebration will conclude once the GNV-FLL departs.
WHY: Silver Airways recently announced nonstop service between FLL and GNV.

The nonstop flights to FLL are great news for GNV and our passengers. FLL is the fifth international hub (along with Atlanta [via Delta Airlines], Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth Miami [via American Airlines]) now accessible to GNV passengers. Broward County is the largest source of UF Students (5,018) and living UF alumni (24,913) who will hopefully utilize this new air
service opportunity, along with business and leisure travelers throughout our region. The new route is not only a gateway to the Caribbean, there are also codeshare opportunities on Silver Airways with United Airlines and JetBlue.
