- Gainesville ranks No. 2 in the state and No. 14 in the nation for the most minority businesses in a small metropolitan area.
Education:
- University of Florida: A record 413 student-athletes obtained a 3.0 or better grade point average in spring 2024
- Alachua County Public Schools:
- There are 28,964 students in grades PK–12, with a student-teacher ratio of 23–1.
- In 2023, the High School Graduation Rate in Alachua County was 91.7%
Residency:
- 140,000 people call Gainesville their home
- There were 889 houses for sale in the Gainesville real estate market in February 2024, up 6.0% from January 2024
Community:
- Community Foundation of North Central Florida awarded $4.18 million to local groups in 2023:
- 25% went to organizations that provide mental health services to youth in Alachua County
- $500,000 to the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) in Gainesville
National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)
- Alachua County received a $30,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)
- This will fund a range of public art projects, events and programs in 8 small cities in Alachua County
