Raise the Roof at the Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House of North Central Florida was built from the ground up in 1982 and has since served thousands of families who travel to Gainesville, FL seeking medical care for their sick child.

When the Ronald McDonald House was renovated in 1999, the roof was replaced. Since then, only minor maintenance has been performed, but the roof has been in need of replacement for many years.

When the Ronald McDonald House started raising money for the new roof, it was only 25 days before Christmas. Initiated by Blair Janes, owner of Brightway Insurance, 25 businesses in joined the House to pledge $1000 each. By the support of the businesses and the HOUGH Foundation-Matt and Hilary Romkey, the Ronald McDonald House raised the $25,000 dollars to construct a brand new roof.

The check presentation took place on December 23 at 10 a.m. at the Ronald McDonald House of North Central Florida.

For the holiday season, RMHCNCF showcased the 25 generous organizations that have made their new roof possible in a campaign called “Raise the Roof” from December 1 to December 25.

Construction on the new roof began in January 2017, in partnership with local contractor Perry Roofing.
