All of the clichés about the beauty of Paris are true. The “City of Love” has more gardens than I can count: many of my favorites are hidden gardens tucked away in courtyards in the Marais district of Paris. Also, while it is customary to visit the Jardin du Tuileries in front of the Louvre, I also highly suggest going off the beaten path to the gardens outside of the tourist areas.
The Jardin du Luxembourg features numerous highly manicured flowerbeds in repeated patterns, a very large children’s playground, and the Grand Basin, where children can rent toy sailboats.
Le Jardin des Plantes not only features the most magnificent dahlias that I have ever seen, but also a huge array of medicinal flowers, herbs, water gardens, and more. With its 4000+ types of plants arranged by family, it is quite a site to behold.
