The University of Florida Health Shands Comprehensive Stroke Center has been awarded national comprehensive stroke center certification from The Joint Commission. Recognizing the hospital’s success, Michael Waters, M.D., Ph.D., medical director of the UF Health Shands Comprehensive Stroke Center, said in a press release, “This new certification validates that UF Health has the highest level of stroke care available in the world. We have a dedicated team of vascular neurologists and highly trained endovascular neurosurgeons available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
Jason Hurst joined Front Street Commercial Real Estate Group as associate director. After receiving an MBA degree from the School of Business & Industry at Florida A&M University with a concentration in finance, Hurst gained experience working with several Fortune 100 companies and developed skills in finance and sales. Coquí RadioPharmaceuticals Corp. recently signed a deal with INVAP to design its Medical Isotope Production Facility. Together, they will strive to produce Molybdenum-99 (Mo-99), an isotope needed to diagnose diseases such as cancer in patients. Carmen Bigles, Coquí Pharma president and CEO, said that they are “uniting (their) efforts to ensure the availability and reliability of the most essential radioisotope in nuclear medicine…with the added benefit of making the world a safer place for generations to come by utilizing proven non-proliferation, low-enriched uranium technologies.”
AxoGen Inc., a leading medical technology company specialized in the peripheral nerve repair market, experienced a 58 percent growth in revenue during the third quarter. To bolster the company’s momentum in the coming year, AxoGen has entered into a $28.55 million financing agreement with a subsidiary of Oberland Capital. In a press release, Bob Johnston, the company’s chief financial officer, explained that, “The agreement allows us to retire our previous royalty contract and reduce our annual debt payments by several million dollars, freeing cash flow to support sales and marketing growth strategies.”
Chris Malphurs, CFP financial advisor at CAMPUS Investment Services, has attained the title of Certified Financial Planner from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. An employee of CAMPUS Investment Services since 2008, Malphurs has extensive experience assisting members of the credit union with financial planning such as retirement planning, estate planning, investments, insurances and education funding. To receive the certification, Malphurs had to meet the requirements set by the CFP Board and pass the CFP Certification Examination.
CHW, a leading civil engineering, land planning, surveying and construction administration services firm in north Florida, was granted the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Agency Continuing Engineering Services Contract. In a recent press release, Rory Causseaux, P.E., the company’s CEO, said, “This contract will provide opportunities to further CHW’s growth in the professional services realm throughout the state.” The DEP contract prompts registered Florida engineering firms to offer services for statewide park improvement and development.
Deborah Bowie has been named president and CEO of United Way of North Central Florida. The United Way board and staff members are extremely excited for Bowie to join the team. Dana Clayton, vice president of resource development, has been the interim president and CEO since August. Bowie’s official first day as president and CEO will be on Monday, January 5, 2015.
