FloridaWorks announces new brand name CareerSource North Central Florida
Beginning next year, FloridaWorks will operate under the new name CareerSource North Central Florida in an effort to improve awareness and access to services for job seekers and businesses.
“FloridaWorks will be changing its name in early 2014 as part of a statewide branding campaign,” said Kim Tesch-Vaught, executive director of FloridaWorks. “We will continue to deliver award-winning collaboration and partnership that grows our economy by developing a world-class workforce for our region’s employers. The FloridaWorks tradition will continue as CareerSource North Central Florida.”
The new brand identity is the result of extensive market research and feedback from local leaders, employers, job seekers, workforce professionals and community partners throughout Florida.
“Our CareerSource Florida state and regional brand names convey our shared mission to connect businesses with skilled talent and Floridians with skills development needed not only when seeking a job but throughout their career,” said Dwayne Ingram, Chairman of the Workforce Florida Board of Directors. “This exciting new brand demonstrates our system’s continued collaboration, innovation and leadership in developing strategies to maximize resources that help job seekers and businesses succeed.”
AMJ Inc. Acquires Hillside Office Park
Local developer Michael Warren, of AMJ Inc. in Gainesville, has purchased the 28,000 square foot office building on Tower Road from Coldwell Banker Commercial M. M. Parrish.
The building sat vacant for four years after it was foreclosed on. Now, Warren is planning improvements to make the building reader for new lessees.
“It’s easily one of the nicest buildings in the area,” Warren said. “And there’s great value there with it being walking distance to several eateries, close to shopping and groceries, next door to a popular well visited office park, close to I-75, and a very short drive to and from most of the higher end demographics of Gainesville.”
He also added, “We think it will be a popular building due to the quality architecture, quality construction and excellent location. There is no other building in town like it.”
Gainesville’s Jim Painter Is Florida’s Builder of the Year
Jim Painter of Painter Masonry Inc. in Gainesville has won the Florida Home Builders Association’s highest individual honor: the Builder of the Year award, presented last week at FHBA’s 61st annual Fall Leadership Conference in Tampa.
A past president of the North Central Florida BA and a former Gainesville mayor, Painter has led many of FHBA’s most important initiatives including governmental affairs, political action and the Future Builders of America (FBA) program, which trains young people for construction trade careers.
His most recent work at FHBA has been as a member of a strategic planning task force that developed recommendations on how the Tallahassee-based association of 7,000 members can achieve operational and governance efficiencies.
Painter and his brother Jerry have owned Painter Masonry since 1969. For over 40 years, the brothers have defined their reputation by instilling a level of fine masonry for commercial, industrial and institutional buildings throughout the North Central Florida area.
