Hacking in Progress: An Update on HackerHouse Cadet Projects

The members of HackerHouse Cadet Class #2 have been hard at work. They’ve spent nights brainstorming ideas, hours developing models and days working with mentors who are guiding them through the process of taking an idea and turning it into a viable product. We asked the cadets to give us a sneak peek as to what they’re working on…without disclosing top-secret information, of course! Here’s what they said:

Kristin Antoon

My experience at HackerHouse so far has been surreal. We’ve been fortunate enough to hear stories and get advice from proven entrepreneurs and business leaders. For my project, I’ve teamed up with [Arora Bhimender] Bhim to make a web app that integrates all of the users’ cloud services. We’re on track to have a minimum viable product by the end of HackerHouse in December.

My HackerHouse experience has been amazing so far. We’ve had experienced speakers tell us some incredible stories and have been encouraged and aided by them. Currently, I’m doing research for my music group networking project before I start creating anything.

My stay so far at the HackerHouse has been amazing. After many super cool sessions with the mentors, days of brainstorming and planning, finally the Nimbus Team (Kristin [Antoon] and I) have started with our project. We aim to build a cloud app, which will make it much easier for everyone to keep their data online – the details are being kept secret for now. We have a timeline prepared and hope to have a working MVP, a web app, by the final demo day.

This first month has been amazing! Living in a house together has really allowed us to bond and become a close-knit unit. All of us currently have a project idea and many of us have begun building our prototypes. Once I have the parts, I’ll test the first build of the product with my HackerHouse cadets and continue iterating until the end of our three months.

I’m working on a product that allows music producers to manage their projects in a better way. I’m still planning the architecture of the product; I’m trying to devise a system that balances ease-of-use and functionality. The product will also allow music producers to collaborate over the internet in a new way. There are others in this space already but I feel my approach is novel enough to gain traction. I can disclose more details as I get them ironed out.

I love HackerHouse.  Talking to mentors about project ideas and their feasibility has been a really great experience. I’ve been working on refinement of my idea and soon I’ll start working on my prototype. Mentors’ guidance has been really helpful.

I have been learning invaluable knowledge from the mentors here at HackerHouse. After witnessing a severe build-up of dishes in the HackerHouse sink, I have decided to revolutionize modern dishwashing in a stylish and compact way. To be continued…

My experiences in the house have surpassed any expectations I had going in – from the people living in it to the mentors guiding us through. I feel that without these it would have taken years to even get halfway to this level of insight about the world of entrepreneurship. My work involves endurance driven drones. It is a generator for multi-rotor unmanned vehicles to help extend both payload and flight time capabilities.

I have been talking with potential customers to see what they would like to see on the site and getting feedback from them. I also designed the mockups of the platform. Every time a mentor comes to the house and speaks, I learn something new and try to apply that in my project. I also am attending the Global Startup Youth and Global Entrepreneur Summit in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
