2022 is coming to an end, and 2023 will be here soon. Greater Gainesville has celebrations for all ages and personal preferences. 3,2,1…here are some ideas to ring in the new year in Gainesville.
Fancy like…
Gainesville is filled with fantastic restaurants. Many local spots organize memorable New Year’s Eve cocktail bashes, like Embers of Florida, one of the most romantic places in town, Social at Midtown, or even Cypress & Grove Brewing Company. Most require a reservation, so purchase tickets before they sell out. It is the last meal of the year, so make it memorable.
Out and about with friends
Start the evening at Depot Park for a fun lawn party. Remember to bring chairs and cozy blankets and enjoy the dance party on the hill. This outside celebration also includes a spectacular fireworks show called “Sparks in the Park” at 6:30 p.m. Once it is done, head over to Bo Diddley Plaza for the Downtown Countdown It is known to have live music by popular local bands (usually starting at 9 p.m.) and accessories like noisemakers and confetti to welcome the new year.
Park it at the pub
For those who prefer to go to one place and stay there for the evening, check out Mother’s Pub & Grill for good food, good drinks, and a good time. Ring in the new year with the band “Good Voodoo” and enjoy this popular pub’s casual and relaxed vibes.
Reflect, celebrate, and anticipate the New Year with the Cade Museum’s “Spark Wonder” Event. Watch Depot Park’s spectacular firework show from the comfort of the Cade’s galleries with a drink and snacks in hand. This family-friendly event will feature games and experiments, an alternate time zone countdown, glow party, New Year’s Resolutions, a photo booth, and more!
Dance the night away
Dance into The New Year at Rena’s Ballroom. Grab a partner and a pair of dancing shoes and enjoy a fun evening on the dance floor. Delicious appetizers will be served, along with a champagne toast at this beautiful venue.
Home is where the party is
For those who prefer to stay in on New Year’s Eve, there are countless ideas to enjoy the rest of 2022 while welcoming 2023 within the comforts of home. Invite friends over and have a potluck dinner, or order take-out (be sure the restaurant is open and the order is placed in plenty of time).

Consider a movie marathon or binge session of a favorite tv show, and do not forget the snacks.
