I am thrilled to join the staff of HOME Magazine! As a member of such a dedicated, welcoming and hardworking team, I’ve learned just how much effort and planning goes into each and every issue. I am determined to not only provide readers with interesting and exciting stories, but to deliver them through only the finest writing. Working alongside a group of talented writers and staff members, I am honored to feature the Heart of Florida in HOME.

Our April/May issue largely caters to all readers. Covering topics in art, fashion, dance, music, design, food, events and fundraisers, we have featured the authentic culture and talent that makes our community so unique. We have spotlighted an array of artists – from a  professional showcasing her works in the Santa Fe Spring Arts Festival, to an elementary school child who painted a school project and qualified as a finalist for the HOME Magazine Cover Contest.

In this issue you will also find a firsthand account of a local dancer’s audition on ‘So You Think You Can Dance?’ as well as memories from former Girl Scouts – some even dating back to World War II. We also spoke with unique and eclectic designers, painters and shop owners to narrate their involvement and personal impact in our community. Some amazing and truly meaningful charities and fundraisers have been featured to show the efforts and lasting impressions each has left, or aims to leave, on the cause it benefits.

IN addition to the events and businesses throughout Gainesville, we will continue to highlight the generous organizations that impact and ispire the community. The third annual Taste of HOME will bring you delicious food, the exciting Iron Chef competition and most importantly, the oportunity to give to three incredible foundations. Benefitting the Child Advocacy Center, Children’s Home Society and Tyler’s Hope for a Dystonia Cure, this event entails great food, fun, people, and above all, a  truly worthy cause.
