Fly Local: Gainesville Regional Airport Offers Stress-Free Travel

The recent 15,200-square-foot terminal expansion includes new gate lounges, increased seating and concession updates. A multi-modal 400+ car parking garage, complete with vehicle charging stations, is planned for next year.

As travel has returned to pre-pandemic levels, more local travelers choose to skip the traffic, long lines and stress that come with larger airports. GNV is committed to providing a stress-free experience.

“We believe the most important people in this equation are our passengers,” said Erin Porter, manager of marketing and public relations for GNV.

A new restaurant and expanded schedule are just a few of the exciting changes underway.

Dining Expansion

The new Alachua Grill from Tailwind Concessions offers an appealing new dining option as part of the terminal expansion. The 980-square-foot restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu features healthy food choices made from high-quality ingredients designed to meet the medical, cultural and dietary needs of travelers. From convenient and quick “grab-and-go” offerings to leisurely, hot meals, there is something for everyone.

Remodeling the existing concession and retail area near gates three, four and five will provide even more hospitality options for travelers. Concession operating hours are 4:30 a.m. until the last flight departs.

Schedule Enhancements

An improved American Airlines flight schedule offers reliable and consistent service from Gainesville to Miami each day. The new plan is designed to allow business travelers to attend meetings or conferences and return home the same day. The GNV – MIA flight departs at 6:30 a.m. and arrives in Miami at 7:42 a.m., with a return flight departing at 9:45 p.m. and arriving in Gainesville at 10:59 p.m. The route also provides solid connections to 85 unique destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as other key domestic connections.

Passenger Profiles WHY GNV?

Ashley Finnegan, Vice President of Marketing for Maven Construction & Mother of 2

My husband and I travel with our children several times per year. We are grateful for GNV because it is so much easier for families to navigate than larger airports. There is rarely a line in ticketing or security, which eliminates the need to arrive hours in advance. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The recent expansion with new areas to purchase food and drinks is great. We love the ease of travel in and out of Gainesville Regional Airport.

Rick Staab, CEO, The Intermed Group

I travel several times per month and always choose Gainesville Regional Airport. I have found the cost is usually less expensive than other airports when you factor in the time and cost it takes to travel there. The convenience this airport offers has been especially helpful while recovering from a back injury. Parking is easy and I do not have to wait in long lines. I appreciate the cleanliness, first class option and the new food choices. The TSA and airport employees are friendly and helpful. As the airport has grown, it has not lost its hometown feel.

Stephanie De Varona, University of Florida Student

I fly in and out of Gainesville several times per semester. I love the size of GNV. It is nice to have an airport so close to campus. Since it is only twenty minutes away from UF, I can easily take the bus or have a friend drop me off. I am grateful I do not have to drive to an unfamiliar city, park and navigate a big airport.
