GAINESVILLE, FL (July 8,2013) – The Business Community Coalition (BCC) ‐ a partnership comprised of the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Gainesville‐Alachua County Association of Realtors and the Builders Association of North Central Florida – seeks applicants for its Fall 2013 Public Leadership Institute (PLI) class.
The BCC Public Leadership Institute (BCC‐PLI) is a non‐partisan program.
Its mission is to identify and educate professionals in the Alachua County/Gainesville area who are interested in learning about public policy issues, leadership and candidacy while exploring the possibility of engaging in public leadership at some point in their future.
BCC Chairman Thomas McIntosh believes BCC‐PLI can help prepare people today to make a difference tomorrow. “The BCC‐PLI program will equip and inspire professionals who potentially could be future leaders at various levels of government.” The PLI challenges professionals with business or business‐related backgrounds to consider how their skills, talents and experiences may work to address our region’s critical issues. There is no commitment required to run for office. Merely consider the possibility of becoming a public leader in the future.
This program will begin with a mandatory two‐day Leadership School in September 2013 followed by gatherings from noon‐2:00pm, twice a month, until December 2013. In addition, networking opportunities will be available.
Acceptance to this program will be competitive. Only about 12 participants will be chosen by a selection committee. There is no application or participation fee. Acceptance into the program does not guarantee a future candidate endorsement or support from program sponsors or anyone affiliated with the program.
Applications are due on July 19 and can be accessed from the following link:
