Natalia Arteaga

What do you like most about living in Gainesville?
The people. I have met some of my best friends and amazing coworkers while living in Gainesville.
Tell me about your job or area of study.
I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida with my bachelor’s degree in public relations and a concentration in business administration. I currently work as a marketing account specialist at Naylor Association Solutions. Working in marketing can be very rewarding, especially when you work with clients and causes that you are passionate about. I work in the strategy and messaging.
What are some of the biggest challenges you have encountered as a young professional?
Growing up as a female minority and entering the workforce as one taught me to never put limits to my own potential. As a young professional, sometimes it is hard to be taken seriously. But I think that should be very motivational for us, because it allows us to show all our potential and grow.
What is one of the best pieces of advice you have ever been given?
Never limit your own potential. When I was looking for career opportunities, now and then I would doubt myself. I would think of all the reasons why a company wouldn’t hire me. My father taught me to never limit my own potential, to always do everything I can to succeed.
Outside of your job, what other activities are you involved in?
I am part of the board of the Alachua County Emerging Leaders, a cause that I am very passionate about. We strive to help the professionals in Gainesville grow through networking events, mentorship and scholarship opportunities, among others. I also volunteer for the Latina Women’s League to stay connected and help the Latins in our community. I am also studying to take the GMAT so I can get an MBA.
What do you do for fun in Gainesville?
I like to try new restaurants, bars and coffee shops. I am a big proponent of mental and physical health. I work out at least three days a week and I do yoga when I can. I like to meditate, and I have been playing the guitar for more than 10 years!
