6 Tips On How To Have A Successful Friendsgiving

The holidays are approaching quickly. A popular tradition that has become trendy over the years is the concept of “Friendsgiving.” No one knows where this idea originated from, although many people reference the iconic sitcom “Friends” when referring to Friendsgiving. Grilled cheese, anyone?

After creating a guest list, here are some tips to ensure friends are full of food and laughter this holiday season.

Choose a Theme

Pick a fun theme that will excite guests, and keep it simple because a host needs to enjoy Friendsgiving too. Some people even choose to throw their Friendsgivings in October, with a Halloween theme and costumes. Why not?

Friendsgiving Food

Once a theme is in place, plan the menu; simplicity is critical. This does not have to be a traditional meal either. In fact, the quirkier, the better. Whatever the menu might be, be sure to plan it ahead of time.

 I Understood the Assignment

Give invited friends a food assignment. Some can bring desserts, while others bring side dishes or help with decor. After all, this is Friendsgiving, so friends should be involved. Oh, and do not forget the ice.

Tired Turkey

Maybe the idea of a traditional Thanksgiving meal is too much to plan this time of year. Alternatively, make a reservation at a restaurant, and have a Friendsgiving there. Everyone pays for their own meal and enjoys good food and great company. Easy as that.

Game Time

The beautiful thing about Friendsgiving is that there are no rules. So, why not include a game? Life-size Jenga? A Turkey Bowl at the park or in the backyard? Board games? Cards? Video games? A dessert competition? Including a game or activity in the Friendsgiving festivities allows guests to leave the holiday stress behind for an evening and have fun.

Friendsgiving is a time to celebrate friendship and make memories, all while enjoying delicious food. This can be done in various ways, from going to a restaurant, ordering take-out, or planning a proper sit-down meal with all the fixings.

Leave the over-planning, Grandma’s dressing, and the stress for the actual Thanksgiving and just enjoy.

Have a fabulous and fun Friendsgiving.
