-I’m currently a software engineer at a global IT consulting firm with offices in Gainesville.

What are some of the biggest challenges you have encountered as a young professional/student?

-Pre-professionals (students) and young professionals often struggle with deciding what they want to do with their lives. My advice is to follow the money where your heart leads you. That is, do what you love and feel passionate about, but never neglect your financial security.

What is one of the best pieces of career advice you have ever been given?

-I have been told many times to be comfortable with ambiguity and embrace change. This advice has proven extremely helpful — it brought me to Gainesville, and it even took me to India in 2016 for a 3-month stint.

Outside of your job, what other activities are you involved in?

-My activities outside the office are sometimes a balancing act. I attend and participate in city and county government meetings, and I sit on the board of directors for a local charter school. Currently, I’m also organizing the Gainesville Universal Basic Income Experiment (GUBIE), a privately-funded experiment which will give a random sample of 1,000 to 2,000 City of Gainesville residents a basic income for a period of 3-5 years.

What do you do for fun in your free time?

-I am working on a few book projects — they are works of fiction and nonfiction. But hands-down, my favorite activity is going out dancing with friends!
