Gainesville is thriving with new companies coming to town and local companies growing and expanding, thus investing money and creating more jobs within our community. We have exceeded the job creation goals of the Council for Economic Outreach’s Momentum 2015; however, our success must be two-fold: economic development + workforce development. To bolster the state’s economic recovery and growth, Governor Rick Scott announced a call for enhanced measurement of performance outcomes in workforce development.
Building a qualified workforce is an essential element of a strong local economy and to accomplish this, the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce has partnered with FloridaWorks, the workforce investment board for Alachua and Bradford counties to provide workforce development business services to local employers.
Just last year, the United States Chamber of Commerce ranked Florida #1 in Talent Pipeline & Infrastructure. This year, we aim to make Alachua and Bradford counties the #1 region for workforce development in Florida as we ‘Rise to the Top’! To do this, we need the participation from employers and job seekers in the community to register in the Employ Florida Marketplace (EFM).
EFM (employflorida.com) is the most comprehensive employer and employee job matching database in Florida. Employers, this is your opportunity to showcase your company and organizational culture and ensure that your company is a viable option in job seekers’ employment search. Job seekers, take this time to describe your skills, experience and values in depth. Make sure you are in the running so you can be matched with employers looking for talent. FloridaWorks, in partnership with EFM, can put you at the fingertips of local employers recruiting elite talent in Alachua and Bradford counties. EFM is your best connection to finding the jobs that suit your skills and goals.
With employers and jobseekers using EFM, we will work together to provide jobs for our residents, retain talent locally, and grow our economy effectively. Your participation in ‘Rise to the Top’ will drive the amount of workforce resources and grant funding made available to our region, which will provide jobs for all of our residents.
Help Alachua and Bradford counties ‘rise to the top’ and make a difference in our community today! Let’s make our workforce #1 in Florida.
