Came to Greater Gainesville from High Springs in 2005
What about Greater Gainesville stood out when comparing it to your other options?
Besides my workplace being in Gainesville, the main attraction is the deep history my husband’s side of the family has here. His great-great-grandparents moved here in the late 1800s. His great-great-grandfather served as the Clerk of the Courts and was Captain of the Gainesville Guard. My husband, his mother, and his grandfather all attended Gainesville High School and the University of Florida. I love that my children get to grow up in Gainesville and continue the legacy and lengthen our connections to its history.
What is your favorite time of year and/or favorite weather conditions?
My favorite time of year, though very brief, is the fall season. After a long hot summer, the cooler days, the deeper colored sunsets, and the crisp leaves falling from the trees rejuvenates my soul and puts a pep in my step, however, I am a sucker for the sound of a good ole’ Florida summer thunderstorm to take an afternoon nap to.
Describe your ideal day in Greater Gainesville.
My ideal day would be to go for a nice, long, morning run, then breakfast with my family at the Flying Biscuit Café followed by an afternoon spent digging for shark teeth with my kids at Hogtown Creek, and then dinner and music with my husband at One Love Café.
