What about Greater Gainesville stood out when comparing it to your other options?
My family and I have lived in Orlando and Tampa prior to moving here. When we were deciding where to go next, we looked at Tallahassee and Gainesville as our possible next stops. After visiting each city and spending time in them, the decision was clear. Gainesville had a better sense of community and we felt the educational opportunities for our kids would be greater in Gainesville.
What is something you wish you knew before moving here?
How good all of the schools were. The school system here is fantastic. There are amazing magnet programs that exist outside of your designated district and some wonderful private options as well.
What is your favorite local food?
We love the Haile Farmers Market. It is so much fun to go on Saturdays and check out all of the fresh fruits and vegetables as well as the interesting vendors. As for a favorite meal…tough one. My two favorites are the John 1 and 2 rolls at Volcanic Sushi and the Ribeye at Embers. Both places have an amazing staff and wonderful food.
