Before and After: Traditional Home Update

So, let’s put the thought of packing and moving your family into a new home aside and instead give your home a face-lift to create that brand new look!

Here is an example of a transitional house that received a face-lift. The style of the home is traditional, and the décor is modern. I designed a style that would change this home completely — from its original transitional look to a modern clean-lined design. With the new transformation, the home remains rich, timeless and elegant with a warm feel.

The arches in this picture were removed. Mica Works added lights within the framework and built the custom wood wall. The lights add ambience and work on a timer, which can help change the mood throughout the day or night. The décor includes colorful glass, which introduces the color palate that is used throughout the house.

I think that any home, no matter what the size, should always have a nice flow. A great example would be to design your home as if you were creating the perfect outfit. All the pieces must flow, meaning they match and go together with a funky pop of color and flare in places.

Don’t be afraid to add flowers to any room in your home. I use fresh flowers in many spaces when designing, as they are a wonderful way to freshen up a space.

The fireplace was removed and the new custom quartz fireplace was handmade by Zsolt Granite Corporation. Each block is cut to perfection from a slab and then professionally polished and pieced together like a fine puzzle. The colors that were chosen were Champagne Limestone and Buttermilkfrom Caesarstone.

Take an ordinary wall with an arch and create a hotel lobby hallway in your home. I chose the center wall where the arch was to place a TV. Once the TV was placed, it was framed out by wood. The same material is on the dining room wall and ceiling, as well as the living room ceiling and the columns. This design brought both rooms together and is noticeable when you look down the hallway. The TV scrolls family photos, date, time and even the weather.
