One hundred years ago, business magnate and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie founded the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America (TIAA), a pension system for professors.
Since then, TIAA has grown into a Fortune 100 financial services organization that is committed to responsible investing and being a force of good, building on the legacy of serving the broad financial needs of those who make a difference in the world.
For years, TIAA has been one of the sources of retirement planning services for University of Florida and UF Health employees.
Now, the company is offering an expanding form of financial help in Greater Gainesville.The new offering is banking, with an emphasis on mortgages.
The move comes about because TIAA acquired in 2017 EverBank, a nationwide bank based in Jacksonville, which it has renamed TIAA Bank.
EverBank has been a part of the North Florida community since the early 1960s.
“We’re thrilled to be able to expand the level of services available to our valued customers,” said Sara Teague, the Gainesville area home lending branch sales manager.
TIAA Bank and TIAA’s financial services, currently located at 3520 NW 43rd St., will be moving in December to their nearly 5,000-square-foot office at Celebration Pointe, which is rapidly becoming a hub for business, entertainment, dining and shopping.
Under one roof, participants will have access to both sides of TIAA – retirement planning and mortgages.
TIAA is the top not-for-profit retirement market provider in assets and participant accounts, and it paid close to $5 billion to retired clients in 2017.
It offers investing, retirement plans, IRAs, TIAA-CREF mutual funds and annuities, brokerage services and 529 education savings plans. Sixty-seven percent of TIAA mutual funds and variable annuities received an overall Morningstar rating of 4 or 5 stars across all asset classes.
On the mortgage side, TIAA Bank has broad capabilities, including:

•Construction to permanent financing

The new office will be in the 5001 Building in Celebration Pointe.
