WELL-KNOWN GAINESVILLE LAW FIRM EXPANDS
One of Gainesville’s premier estate and business planning law firms has recently completed a major expansion. Susan Ossi founded the Ossi Law Firm in 2008 as a boutique estate planning practice. This summer, attorneys Richard Withers and McCabe Harrison joined Ossi as shareholders and the firm was renamed Ossi, Withers and Harrison, P.A.
All three shareholders have LL.M.s in taxation from the University of Florida and Ossi is Board Certified by the Florida Bar as a specialist in Wills, Trusts and Estates Law. Ossi and Harrison focus their practice in the areas of estate planning, wills and trusts, probate and trust administration. Withers’ practice is primarily in the area of tax, tax controversy, business and succession planning, asset protection and related business transactions. The firm has also added two experienced civil litigation attorneys, Katherine L. Floyd and Nicolas B. Harvey, to expand their practice.
“With the addition of Katie and Nick to our practice we are able to assist clients with a wider range of legal issues,” said Ossi. “In addition to our estate planning and business law practice, we can now assist our clients with commercial and civil litigation, fiduciary litigation and landlord/ tenant matters.”
A Gainesville native, Floyd has been practicing locally for the past six years and previously worked for a large insurance defense firm in Jacksonville. She will be focusing her practice primarily in the areas of estate planning, wills and trusts, probate, landlord/tenant law, contract disputes, and fiduciary and civil litigation. “I’ve had the privilege of knowing and working with these attorneys through the local legal community for years,” Floyd explained. “I’ve referred my friends and family to this firm so I’m thrilled to become a part of the team.”
Also joining the firm is Nicolas Harvey who practices in the area of general civil litigation, including commercial and real property litigation, probate and trust litigation, personal injury/ wrongful death and products liability.
“Adding civil trial attorneys to the practice allows us to provide a full range of legal services to our clients,” said McCabe Harrison, one of the firm’s partners. “We’ve formed great relationships with our clients over the years. It’s comforting for them to know that we can help them with additional issues as well.”
Ossi, Withers and Harrison takes a comprehensive approach when working with clients, whether it’s preparing an estate plan, forming a business or managing investment property. “One of the biggest misconceptions about estate planning is that the process is all about planning for death, but that’s simply not true.” Floyd explained. “Most of what we do in preparing a comprehensive estate plan for a client is planning for life. Identifying their goals and concerns and helping them plan for their children, businesses, finances, property and future.”
