Business: 

  • Gainesville ranks No. 2 in the state and No. 14 in the nation for the most minority businesses in a small metropolitan area. 

Education: 

  • University of Florida: A record 413 student-athletes obtained a 3.0 or better grade point average in spring 2024 
  • Alachua County Public Schools:  
  • There are 28,964 students in grades PK–12, with a student-teacher ratio of 23–1.  
  • In 2023, the High School Graduation Rate in Alachua County was 91.7%

Community:  

  • Community Foundation of North Central Florida awarded $4.18 million to local groups in 2023: 
  • 25% went to organizations that provide mental health services to youth in Alachua County 
  • $500,000 to the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) in Gainesville  

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) 

  • Alachua County received a $30,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)  
  • This will fund a range of public art projects, events and programs in 8 small cities in Alachua County
