While these three financial leaders may be the new kids on the block, as a team they and Columbia Bank are far from new. In fact, they’ve been in the industry for quite some time.
Columbia Bank was founded in 1912, in Lake City, Florida, where they have four branches including a corporate headquarters. The recent opening of the Gainesville loan office now expands their lending knowledge and capabilities to customers throughout Alachua and Baker counties.
Columbia Bank maintains the essence of a community bank, with lending decisions made by people who understand the needs of the individuals, families, and businesses in the communities it serves.
Their local roots combined with integration of the newest technologies sustains them in what can be a volatile banking world.
“When you’ve been around 103 years, chances are you’ve had to weather some storms. Columbia Bank is better for it, thanks to the forethought and ingenuity of generations of experienced directors, staff and loyal customers,” said K.C. Trowell, CEO and president of Columbia Bank.
“Community banking is built on relationships and trust, and we want our current and future customers to know that we have put together a solid team that is invested in them and in our communities,” added Trowell. “Their success is our success.”
Bob Cameron, who serves as the Gainesville market president, is a 47- year veteran of the banking industry, having launched his banking career in Gainesville in 1970.
“I’ve seen other banks try to project to customers that they operate like community banks. We don’t have to try; we are a community bank,” said Cameron. “Large banks are not equipped to offer local decision-making. Our size enables us to make local decisions based on our knowledge of the market and the customers.” Vice President Matthew Braddy has worked in commercial lending for almost 20 years. He focuses on providing financing solutions based on the individual business owner’s needs. “Columbia Bank has enjoyed over 100 years of successful community banking, and I am privileged to be a part of the team that is bringing true relationship banking back to the Gainesville area,” said Braddy.
Liz Berenger, in banking in Gainesville for 27 years, serves as the commercial relationship manager. Liz’s position is key to this team as she makes identifying and executing the best financial solutions for clients a seamless process.
“Throughout my career, I’ve learned that I can better serve my customers at a community bank,” said Berenger. “Columbia Bank offers me the opportunity to provide superior customer service and also have input in underwriting and policy decision-making.”
