Greater Gainesville Local Business: Fracture

Sustainable growth, one print at a time

Who We Are

Gainesville local business, Fracture, was founded in 2009 by two University of Florida students who saw something that others did not. Everything about the way that Fracture captures and shares digital photos has changed over the past two decades.

With the explosion of smartphone usage, suddenly everyone has a high-quality digital camera on them virtually at all times. As a result, people are taking more photos than ever — nearly 1.5 trillion every year and counting.

Even as the way photos are taken has revolutionized, the way they are printed and displayed has remained virtually unchanged. Clunky, expensive frames tend to go out of style, and printing media like paper and canvas add imperfections back into otherwise crisp, clean digital images.

Fracture CEO and Co-Founder Abhi Lokesh and Co-Founder Alex Theodore saw an opportunity to create something better — and so, Fracture was born.

A Fracture glass print is unlike anything ever seen before. Unlike traditional printing methods, printing digital images directly onto glass ensures that they go from the moment itself, to the camera roll, to the wall without losing a single detail. Unlike traditional framing, the sleek, modern design means prints will look perfect in any room and with any decor.

Boldly Growing

Fracture has grown into one of the premiere direct-to-consumer wall decor brands in the world, thanks to the support of the incredible community and customers. The company shipped its 1 millionth order in 2020 and is hot-in-pursuit of 2 million.

The Fracture team has grown to more than 100, with new teammates being added practically every week to help meet our ever-expanding business needs.

Fracture hit a major milestone in February 2021 when it became one of Summit Partners’ portfolio brands. This gives Fracture the support and enablement to continue growth further into the future.

Treading Lightly On The Planet

The Fracture team is passionate about being responsible stewards of the planet. Sustainable business and manufacturing practices are not just a fad or a marketing ploy — they are part of Fracture’s DNA.

Fracture has been a carbon-neutral company since 2017 with the help of a partner, We Are Neutral, a local nonprofit that helps calculate and offset businesses’ carbon footprint. Fracture’s offices and manufacturing facilities in Tech City are powered by one of the largest bifacial solar panels in Florida. The company is constantly on the lookout for innovative ways to reduce its carbon footprint.

Made In The USA

Fracture believes in manufacturing, in making things by hand — something tangible, something real

Every single Fracture print is created, checked and double-checked with care to ensure the best possible product is being shipped out. Customers can feel good knowing that their prints were made by real people, right here in the U.S.

Gainesville Proud

Fracture is proud to call the Greater Gainesville area home. From the early days when they first set up shop in an office park on N.W. 67th Place, to the beautiful, 30,000-square-foot facility they currently occupy in San Felasco Tech City, Greater Gainesville is quite literally where Fracture grew up.

“We will be forever grateful for the support, innovation and inspiration we have found in this community, and we look forward to growing here long into the future,” Lokesh said.

Fracture believes in staying true to your roots. While most tech startups tend to seek out bigger markets, they believe the grass is greenest where you water it. Greater Gainesville has invested in Fracture, and so they will always be champions and advocates for this amazing city.

Working At Fracture

For Fracture, work is more than just punching a clock. It is a part of who you are. The scrappy, big-hearted and humble team of individuals comes together to use their skills and talents to build something that makes the world a little better. What could be better than that?

Part of the magic of working at Fracture is that putting people first is the center of everything they do. The images printed in the factory each day — treasured photos of family reunions, vacations, new babies, weddings and graduations — are a constant reminder of what matters most in life. That is why Fracture rejects the tech startup mentality of “work hard, play hard.” Instead, they offer employees what they need to truly find fulfillment: work-life balance.

The Fracture team enjoys generous PTO, 12 paid holidays and a bonus day off on their birthdays. Their Life Happens policy means that team members are able to handle the little surprises and important moments life sends our way — from doctor’s appointments to flat tires to school pageants — without dipping into PTO. That way, that time really counts.

Combined with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision and more, a tech stipend for office set up and a budget for furthering education, Fracture is dedicated to ensuring its employees have a strong foundation so they can do their best work.
