1. What do you like most about living in Gainesville?

Growing up in Gainesville, I have enjoyed the small-town feel the city has been able to hold onto while trying to grow. The opportunities available to all who enjoy the Greater Gainesville area are everywhere you look. Encouraging those that graduate from area colleges and the University of Florida has become easier as these opportunities grow.

2. Tell me about your job or area of study.

I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of North Florida and moved back to Gainesville to work with my family. As a land manager for Columbia Timber Company and a Realtor for United Country Real Estate Property and Auctions I enjoy helping land owners achieve their goals and objectives, with everything from wildlife enhancement and timber investments to finding property that is great for recreation or building a dream house on.

3. What are some of the biggest challenges you have encountered as a young professional?

Showing that I am knowledgeable about my industry. Many folks look at younger/newer professionals as still learning on the job. Showing that I know what I am talking about, while still being polite, can prove difficult. Building up the confidence to speak up with an answer to a question or to share information on a situation was not always easy.

4. What is one of the best pieces of advice you have ever been given?

The best advice I have been given is to simply try. If you do not try, you will never succeed.

5. Outside of your job, what other activities are you involved in?

See Also

I enjoy sporting events and am a current member of TitleTown Gator Club. The group provides great opportunities to meet new people and form new friendships. I am also a member of Alachua County Emerging Leaders (ACEL). I am on the social committee and use my knowledge of Greater Gainesville to introduce members of the organization to areas they may never have known existed.

6. What do you do for fun in Gainesville?

I enjoy joining my wife on walks with our dog through various areas of Gainesville, joining family and friends at local watering holes, heading to the beach when the weather is nice and taking in a show at the theaters we have in town.
