ACEL Young Professional Spotlight: Diane Twitchell

ACEL Young Professional Spotlight: Diane Twitchell

1. What do you like most about living in Gainesville?

One of my favorite things about Gainesville is the affordability! Coming from the Bay Area of California, rent, gas and even groceries are cheaper here. I also love the accessibility of everything – I can go from hiking a trail in a nature preserve, bike over to a brewery and walk to happy hour downtown. There are also a lot of good restaurants in Gainesville that are veggie or vegan friendly!

2. Tell me about your job or area of study.

I work at Feathr as a Customer Success Manager. We are a platform that event organizers and associations use to digitally promote their conferences & expos, provide referral marketing collateral for their partners and monetize their digital audiences for sponsorship opportunities. I manage a portfolio of clients and am their go-to person for training, implementation, best practices and marketing strategy.

3. What are some of the biggest challenges you have encountered as a young professional?

As a young professional, it’s hard to be taken seriously when you don’t have those 15+ years of experience that some of your colleagues may have, even though you are fully committed to growing and learning in your field. And as a young professional woman, I feel that most companies are still behind in promoting women or putting them in leadership roles, and I imagine that will always be a challenge for women everywhere, no matter their age.

4. What is one of the best pieces of advice you have ever been given?

Be yourself. Don’t be afraid to speak up and voice your opinion. I’ve been lucky at my current job where the employees are encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas, which can lead to actual change that benefits not only our customers, but our organization as a whole.

5. Outside of your job, what other activities are you involved in?
