Lori Bailey found the perfect home when she and her husband David were moving to Gainesville from Texas – on the outside.
The inside was another story. “It was built in 1996, and it had never been updated,” Bailey said.
The Baileys decided to gut the home, located in the Parker Road area, and completely renovate the interior. Their Realtor, Heather Doughton of Bosshardt Realty Services, recommended 10 subcontractors for the job.
They included Wilson’s Custom Flooring. “Heather told me that she used to suggest two or three flooring companies, but she stopped doing that because Wilson’s always had the best price and quality,” Bailey said.
Bailey showed owner Johnny Wilson a picture of the wood she wanted, and he immediately knew what it was – calico acacia, an African wood with a mixture of dark and light color. “It looks like it’s on fire,” Bailey said. “I grateful to Johnny for helping me bring my vision to reality.”
Expertise Matters
Johnny Wilson has been providing high-quality service for more than 30 years. “He’s a perfectionist about his work, and he wants every detail, like where the seams in carpet are, just right,” said his wife Susan, who is the office manager.
Johnny worked for someone else for most of his career. In 2009, he decided to start his own company. Wilson’s business has grown steadily, enabling the company is invest in improvements.
With the new location, the company has doubled the size of its showroom. “Now, we can show customers more samples, helping them visualize all the options they have,” said Brendon Wilson, the son of Johnny and Susan, who joined the company this year.
Flooring options are greater than ever – including engineered hardwood, ceramic tile, vinyl plank and carpet. And within each category, the look and performance of material vary widely.
Choosing flooring is a lifestyle choice, Brendon said. People with lots of pets and kids might favor durable material that’s easy to care for, while other folks would prefer mostly cushy carpet.
Ceramic tile is the most durable product available. And the variety of tile is ever increasing, with wood-look tiles growing in popularity. Vinyl plank has come into its own – offering a variety of impressive looks with great durability and water-resistance. “Some customers are only interested in vinyl plank, and they don’t want to talk about wood,” Brendon said.
Wilson’s makes recommendations on installation – such as laying tile diagonally or staggering them. The company also can have throw rugs for your living room that match the carpet in your bedrooms.
You can tap the expertise of Wilson’s while getting a good price. “We’re very competitive, and we will beat or match most estimates,” Susan said.
Purchasing flooring can be an overwhelming process. The Wilson family has made it their mission to be a trusted source for residential and commercial flooring.
