United Way Small Business Spotlight: Access Chiropractic

An Interview with Alex Huggins, Chiropractor/ Owner at Access Chiropractic

1. Tell us about your business; and what is your business philosophy?
Access Chiropractic is a chiropractic facility focusing on finding the cause of patient’s pain rather than treating the symptoms. Using chiropractic adjustments, massage therapy, physical therapy, and nutrition, we are able to help patients with all of life’s aches and pains.

Our philosophy is simple; treat every patient as if they were family. We consider ourselves a “family chiropractic” office because when you come in you will be greeted by my wife and may have the opportunity to meet one of my three daughters, who come to the office often to “watch mommy and daddy help people’s backs.” We want patients to feel comfortable and confident that we want to help them get out of pain as fast as possible and are willing to do whatever it takes to assure this.

2. Why are you passionate about your commitment to United Way’s Community Investment Fund?
This one is easy for me. I am a local kid who has not only grown up attending facilities like the Boy’s and Girl’s Club, which United Way supports, but I’ve also worked there too. I’ve seen firsthand how much of an impact the United Way has on Gainesville’s community and I’m excited to be a part of it.

3. What is something interesting or surprising that most people don’t know about you?
In February of 2006 I walked on to the Florida Gators Football team. Yes, the same team that won the National Championship. I didn’t stay long, I walked off in April 2006, but it was a goal I set a year ahead of time and achieved it.

4. What would your older self tell your younger self?
Your wife is always right. Read more. Stay in shape because once you lose it, it’s hard to get it back! Start saving money NOW. And your wife is ALWAYS right!
