United Way Small Business Spotlight- Servpro of Alachua County West

  1. Tell us about your business and what is your business philosophy?

Servpro of Alachua County is part of a national franchise company but is locally owned and operated by Mark and Becky Raymond. Servpro offers a full range of cleaning and restoration services including residential cleaning such as carpet and upholstery cleaning; commercial cleaning such as hard floor care, carpets, and janitorial services; (and) restoration services such as fire damage restorations, water damage restorations, mold remediation, bio-hazard cleanup, deodorization and duct cleaning.

Servpro’s philosophy consists of five major areas of emphasis: teamwork, quality people, excellent service, fairness and mutual respect. Our teamwork is achieved when we focus on quality employees that are loyal and honest. Our employees determine what our customers’ needs are to provide excellent service, and our fairness develops trust and mutual respect. Following these principles ensures growth and customer loyalty for our company. Each and every customer is of utmost importance to us. Our motto is to restore your home and business and make it “like it never even happened.”

  1. Why are you passionate about your commitment to United Way’s Community Investment Fund?

I am passionate about our commitment to United Way because our contributions stay in our community and help in so many different areas. We give in a way that’s affordable for us as a small business, but I know we are doing great things. We are able to make a difference for others that we might not have ever done. I do not want to be remembered as a great business owner but as someone who cared about the people in my community and tried to help make a difference.

  1. What is something interesting or surprising that most people don’t know about you?

I have had voice lessons and sing high soprano. Also, my children are 32, 30, 22 and 11. And yes, the same marriage.

  1. What would your older self tell your younger self?

My older self would tell my younger self in high school, “Don’t try so hard to make friends with people who really don’t care about you. Make friends with the people who are going to help you become a better version of yourself. Learn something new, try something different and convince yourself that you have no limits.”
