On Thursday, August 22, the American Cancer Society began its campaign to recruit volunteers in North Central Florida for a new cancer study of 300,000 people across the United States and Puerto Rico.
The event, held at the Cancer Center of North Florida Regional Medical Center, helped recruit “champions” and volunteers for the study. The study will follow participants for decades.
Previous nationwide cancer studies linked smoking to lung cancer, discovered the link between obesity and cancer and showed the considerable impact of air pollution on heart and lung conditions.
