Spooky celebrations haunt Greater Gainesville this weekend
Trick-or-treating never goes out of style, but Halloween festivities do not have to stop there. Greater Gainesville hosts a variety of spooky activities for all ages to enjoy, and here are a few to kickstart the weekend.
Nightmare on the Santa Fe Paddle
This is no ordinary springs trip, but instead a thrilling sunset paddle loop filled with all sorts of surprises lurking beneath the surface. Costumes are encouraged, and all ages are welcome to partake in this fun-filled and unique Halloween experience taking place from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 28.
The Great Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Halloween is not complete without a carved or decorated pumpkin. This year, the High Springs Farmer’s Market is hosting the Great Pumpkin Decorating Contest followed by trick-or-treating from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 28. All are welcome to submit their carved, decorated and painted pumpkins to be voted upon, and the best pumpkin will be awarded prizes and bragging rights, of course.
Safe Trick-or-Treat at Celebration Pointe
This year, Celebration Pointe hosts a trick-or-treating event with several participating retailers, where all are welcome to dress up and come through for Danscompany’s dance performance put and plenty of candy collecting. This Halloween event takes place at 6 p.m. Oct. 29.
Monster Mash at Oaks Mall
Oaks Mall will be hosting the fourth annual Monster Mash from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 30. Get all dressed up and come by to partake in costume contests, games, music and trick-or-treating around the mall.
Halloween at Haile Equestrian
Trick-or-treaters will not be the only ones sporting Halloween attire this year. The horses of Haile Equestrian will be decked out in their best spooky garb for this year’s Halloween celebration. Come by from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 31 for a variety of games, prizes, pony rides and trick-or-treating.
Dress, up, collect all of the loot and be safe. Happy Halloween, Greater Gainesville!
