30 Years of Quality

For three decades, the Nazworth family has served the Gainesville community through Quality Plumbing and Quality DesignWorks

As the family owned and operated Quality Plumbing celebrates a milestone 30 years in business, the achievement highlights the special relationship between the company and the Gainesville community.

“Small business is what keeps this town moving, and we are a small business,” Owner and President Bryan Nazworth said. “You try to do the right things and service your customers, and try to instill that same level of professionalism and hard work ethic in your employees so you have that return clientele.”

Since Quality Plumbing’s debut in 1984, the emphasis on customer service has never wavered.

“We’ve got to deliver the service our customers have come to trust,” Bryan said. “It takes 30 years to build, but you can destroy it in a fraction of that.”

Angie, Bryan’s wife, who serves as the company’s executive vice president and oversees the business finances and office management, is thankful for the years of support the community and clients have shown Quality Plumbing and her family.

“We didn’t accomplish this on our own,” she said. “Doors were opened along the way and we appreciate each and every one of those opportunities.”

Quality Plumbing guarantees 100 percent satisfaction, and Frank Andrews, company vice president and Bryan’s brother-in-law, is resolute in making every customer happy. “It’s a personal relationship,” Andrews said. “Our customers are also our friends and neighbors.”

As Quality Plumbing begins its fourth decade, the younger Quality DesignWorks shapes its own identity.  The 3-year-old design-build firm has flourished with its “concept to completion” approach to home remodeling, on display in its impressive, Alachua-based design showroom.

“It’s the service and concept that separates us from competitors,” Bryan said of Quality DesignWorks.

With their son, Preston, and daughter, Heather, both involved with the family businesses, there is great opportunity for Bryan and Angie to pass on their experience, while acquiring valuable insight into the up-and-coming generation.

“Some of us who have been here most of the 30 years have a lot of experience to draw on, but we don’t know everything,” Angie said. “Preston and Heather bring a fresh perspective and new ideas, and we have to really listen and then apply some of our experience so that both generations learn from each other.”

Heather, a designer with Quality DesignWorks, said besides working together, the family spends most of their free time outside the office together as well.

“I am thankful that my family has built successful businesses that have allowed my brother and I to participate in and carry on their legacy,” she said.

And it has been a family affair from the start. Prior to his wife taking over the finances for Quality Plumbing in 1987, Bryan’s mother was the bookkeeper.

“I never had an outside person write checks,” he said. “And that’s evolved into growing this business together—the ups and the downs, living it every day. And appreciating what each other has to do.”

This appreciation extends to the community, which is why the Nazworths’ place such significance on community involvement; for years Quality Plumbing has supported a wide range of charities and organizations throughout North Central Florida with their time and financial support.

“It’s a team effort,” Bryan said, “showing the community you appreciate the opportunity to survive in this industry for 30 years.”

Quality Plumbing is currently donating plumbing services to the new Florida Baptist Children’s Home.

“We had a crew out there, and Frank and I were right beside them,” Bryan said. “You have to lead by example; it’s not something you can put yourself on the podium and preach about—you’ve got to show it.”

As Bryan enjoys the proud accomplishment of Quality Plumbing’s 30th anniversary with his family, and the employees who have become family, he also looks ahead. “We’re not there yet,” he said. “You can’t ever feel like ‘I’ve made it, I can’t get any better’—we can always be better than we were yesterday.”

Angie embraces the moment feeling blessed, and thankful to the employees, both past and present. “I appreciate the time  our employees and especially their families sacrifice in order for us to deliver the quality service our customers deserve,” she said.  “I was fortunate to have my brother and my parents help when our kids were young and we were building the business. I can relate to the support it takes from family.”

For Preston, assistant project manager at Quality Plumbing, it’s about pride—in family and work. “I like driving around town and seeing the projects we’ve worked on and knowing our company did that.”

Andrews remains amazed at how far the company has grown since he joined 20 years ago—from two trucks to a fleet. “I don’t see any slowing down,” he added.

Bryan said he would like the business to carry on when he’s gone. “Gone from the business or gone from this earth,” as he puts it.

But there is no magic age for retirement, simply stating he’ll work until he isn’t capable anymore.

“I’m not going to be satisfied to just retire and go sit on the sidelines,” he said. “But I do know that I don’t want to be involved forever.”

Not forever, but definitely for now.
