Came to Greater Gainesville in 1991
What is something you wish you knew before moving here?
My family moved a lot when I was young since my dad was in the Army, so moving to Gainesville was not a big adjustment. However, as a child, I remember telling my parents that it would be nice to have friends “who you’ve known since you were born.” They told me now that we are in Gainesville and putting down roots that I would “know these new friends from here on and create new memories to last a lifetime.” And they were right!
What is your favorite local food?
My friends and family know I am a pretty simple all-American-type eater, so it’s probably no surprise to them that my favorite meal is a juicy hamburger from Loosey’s in Haile topped with blue cheese, bacon, and grilled jalapenos. Of course, if we are celebrating, a steak from Ember’s!
Describe your ideal day in Greater Gainesville.
A typical Saturday for my family and I (Husband Matt, Daughters Maddie & Lily, Sons Davis & Rhett):
We take the golf cart up to the Haile Village Center and have breakfast at Limerock Road Grill, followed by a round of play on the playground in the Village Center courtyard for the kids. We venture back home and go swimming in the pool with grandparents. If neither Matt nor I are working (both of us are in real estate), then we usually run to Publix for dinner and Tipples for some craft beer and wine. We love entertaining and, since our twins are only three and not the easiest to take out for dinner with big groups, we tend to invite friends or family over for some evening swims and dinner. We also love hosting Gator football games from the comfort of our home.
