Applications Open for Fifth Annual Cade Museum Prize

The Cade Museum for Creativity + Invention invites applications for the fifth annual $50,000 Cade Museum Prize competition. The Cade Museum Prize, open to all Florida residents and Florida-based companies, rewards innovation and invention from entrepreneurs, innovators and inventors. The Cade Museum Prize awards both cash and in-kind incentives to academics, entrepreneurs and proof-of-concept or early-stage companies for advancing creative ideas into the marketplace. The deadline for applications is Jan. 31, 2014.

 

Florida Institute Provides Seed Funding to Paracosm

(via BUSINESS WIRE) –The Institute for Commercialization of Public Research (The Institute) announced Dec. 5 that it finalized a funding agreement with Gainesville-based Paracosm, a software company working to develop realistic, detailed and dimensionally accurate indoor 3-D modeling and navigation software.

 

Creator Registration Opens for One Spark 2014

Creator registration for One Spark 2014 kicked off on Dec. 1 with 75 creator projects registered in the first 48 hours, a 142 percent increase over the same time period last year. One Spark 2014 is on pace to attract more than 500 projects from around the world seeking resources to make their ideas a reality. Creator registration for One Spark 2014 ends Jan. 31, 2014. Foresight First Company Awarded Guantanamo Bay Projects

Gainesville-based Foresight Construction Group, Inc., was recently awarded a design-build construction contract for projects located on the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Foresight is the first construction management firm to obtain a prime contract in Guantanamo Bay through the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program.
